Episode 82: Science, Gaia and Archetypes with Darwin
Darwin?
No, no, not -that- Darwin. I’m talking with a podcaster and former Biology teacher whose pseudonym is Darwin, because his first (satiric) podcast was called Darwin’s Deviations.
Now that you know no one is channelling THE Darwin, lets get to the meat of this episode, which is Darwin’s ideas about how James Lovelock’s Gaia Hypothesis may give us a new perspective on the manifestations of the paranormal, such as ghosts, Greys, Mothman and Bigfoot.
Combining the Gaia hypothesis with Carl Jung’s concept of archetypes, as well as his own tricksterish tendencies and musings, Darwin has a pretty unique view of why we humans keep seeing strange things in the skies, hearing things go bump in the night, running across monsters and being kidnapped from our beds by aliens.
It’s a fun talk, with lots of science, lots of woo-woo, psychology, folklore, mythology and quite a few laughs along the way.
Darwin’s current podcast is called Tracing Owls where he covers paranormal subjects with his irreverent wit.
Books mentioned in this podcast are Jame’s Lovelock’s Gaia: A New Look at Life on Earth, Raymond Fowler’s The Andreasson Affair and Budd Hopkin’s Missing Time.
