Hello, fellow Keelians!

This week’s episode has been long in coming, because I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to do the art. I finally figured it all out, so now it’s time to introduce all y’all to Dr. Russell Jones. He’s a part time local to Athens, Ohio, and he lives and works part time in Putnam County West Virginia, just a few miles a the crow flies from my Grandma’s farm where I spent formative year.

He also is a bigfoot researcher, and he’s written two books: Tracking the Stone Man: West Virginia’s Bigfoot, and The Appalachian Bigfoot.

A certified Master Naturalist, Russ is always out in the woods with his dog, Shade. He grew up hunting, trapping and fishing and he knows our Appalachian woodlands the way only a native to the region can, and he tells us all about his techniques of investigating, and what he thinks Bigfoot eats out there and where they can be found.

He’s a flesh and blood bigfoot researcher, but Morganna and I told him up front that while we were Woo People (that’s a technical term, surely), we both would like Bigfoot to be a flesh and blood hominid. We really would. But it doesn’t matter—because we Woo folks and the Flesh and Blood folks should get on fine, because we all want to find out what the heck is leaving those footprints out in our woods.

So, enjoy the episode and come back next week for some really fun history talk!

If you want to find Russ online, just click the link on his name up there and it’ll take you right to his website.
