Episode 92: Spirits, Blood and Hecate with Octavian

Octavian, the host of the Strange Dominions Podcast, has some interesting ideas about using Western Ceremonial Magic and Traditional or “Folk” Witchcraft as tools to investigate the paranormal. Being an old timey Witch myself, I’m always down to talk about magic and so that’s exactly what we did.

And it’s a wide-ranging discussion from the evocation and invocation of spirits to the prevalence of blood taboos in ceremonial magic as well as the various iterations of the idea of the blood libel: the undying insistence among some that blood sacrifices occur in Jewish rituals and witchcraft—which it doesn’t. And then we talk about Hecate an old Goddess with whom we both have direct experience, and entheogen use and music and all sorts of fun things.
