Episode 95: The Darkening of the Light: Fall Things with Chad Redding
This episode was supposed to be the Autumnal Equinox episode, buuuuuuut……the Tricksters of our enchanted world decided otherwise.
Because our Witch friends, Susan Demeter and Kiki Dombrowski were busy with family and projects, I decided to have them do a Samhain episode with me, and Morganna and I would do an Equinox episode with Chad Redding. He’s already talked about the springtime woods and the winter woods, so why not fall as well?
And it was a great idea. Unfortunately, the first time we tried to record, before the Equinox, Chad couldn’t get a good internet signal on his phone. Not only that, but as he drove around to try and get a good signal, Morganna and I were on the line with him, so we could listen and he kept getting dropped and the line would go dead every time he said, “Spirits,” or “Other.”
Morganna’s voice and mine were echoing—I know why now, but at the time it was mysterious—but while we were talking as Chad drove—a third female voice said something unintelligible. Neither Morganna nor I were speaking at the time, but Chad and the two of us all heard her. Then, every time we mentioned the “mysterious lady” he’d get dropped off the call.
If we’d have been recording, that would have been an EVP. So, we decided to try the next day.
The next day, we couldn’t record because a plumber had to come fix the hook up for the new washer.
Finally a week later we recorded—but every time the “mysterious lady’s voice” got mentioned, Chad would disappear.
But—we finally got it recorded and there’s lots of stuff in here. Stories of a shadowy being near the edge of the woods and a field, Morganna’s Goblins, the feral goblinoid things roiling out of my hill a few autumns back, weird bird things, and all sorts of other strangeness. And yes,, at the end, we tell the “mysterious lady” story, and you get to hear Chad drop out, and return—it happened again—right about when we started talking about whoever she and her voice were.
Whew. Hope you enjoy it!
