Episode 157: Mary, The Divine Feminine and God as Mother with Brother Richard Hendricks

“She Is With Us.” December 8, 2025 Barbara FisherMixed Media: Collage acrylic paint, paper, metal, and glass on canvas.

So, this episode is the very first one I recorded after deciding to restart the podcast. And you can tell that I wasn’t used to podcasting anymore, by the long pauses every time I spoke. Thankfully, Brother Richard was a patient conversationalist and we got through with minimal mistakes. Though, admittedly I blew the first three attempts at the opening! (And there’s some weird audio glitching, but you can still understand what we’re saying.)

But there’s more to the story than that. There’s also the fact that they very day we recorded the episode, September 8, 2025, was the the Day of the Nativity of Mary. I had no idea of that until Brother Richard told me at the beginning of the podcast.

But the synchronicity continues—yesterday is when I started and nearly completed the episode art—I’d started it three other times and didn’t like how it went. December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. So that was significant.

Brother Richard explains so much about Marian doctrine, lore, and Mary’s place in the doctrine of Catholic faith. But he also speaks to the universality of the Divine Mother—and the Feminine Divine, and how the world longs for the energy of a Mother right about now.

I hope you enjoy the episode and can look past some of the weird noises and some of my clumsily long pauses!
