Episode 161: It Was Meant Just For You with Suzanne Chancellor

“It Was Meant Just For You.” Mixed Media Collage. Barbara Fisher 2026.

There’s an epic misunderstanding in the world of High Strangeness. Many of us, especially if we are focused on only one or two specific areas of the paranormal, such as UFOs or Bigfoot seem to think that there are prototypical experiences that happen over and over, with a great many similarities across generations, time periods and geography.

The best example is probably the idea of “alien abduction.”

There is the idea that there is a pattern of happenings that occur in what is held up as a “typical alien abduction experience.”

But is there really such a thing as a “typical” alien abduction experience? There are authors whose retellings of experiencers’ testimony lead readers to believe that there is a storyline that happens over and over for alien abductees, to the point that its possible to just change the names and the places and still tell the same tale in the same sequence.

But that just isn’t true, really. Yes, there are similarities and patterns to experiencer testimony. But if you go beyond the narratives retold in researchers’ books which have been filtered through each researcher’s personal theory, you will find that reality doesn’t correspond to those fairly consistent stories.

You find that on the contrary, people experience a wide variety of highly strange and supposedly impossible things over their lifetimes, and many of those experiences refuse to fit into the discrete, simple boxes authors have created.

If you talk with a lot of experiencers over time, and ask the right questions, you will find that while there are patterns of similarities, there is nearly an infinite range of oddities that occur in people’s lives. And these oddities are more often than not, far stranger than “typical” UFO sightings, bigfoot sightings and alien abductions.

Suzanne Chancellor is one of the types of experiencers whose life is full of a plethora of varied highly strange happenings. Her stories are many and varied and add weight to my understanding that while many of us experiencers have elements in common with each other’s narratives, we are also unique in our understanding.

Enjoy Suzanne’s stories and the ideas she and Barbara bounce around in this episode!
