Morganna and Barbara welcome Morgan Daimler, fairy lore expert, blogger, author, Witch, Priestess of the Daoine Maithe and teacher of arcane subjects. Not just an academic; Morgan has had experiences with the Fairies, also known as the Good Folk, ever since she was a child, so she comes to the subject from practical, literary and folkloric directions.

It was a fine, winding conversation; a great introduction to the Fairies and how to safely interact with them in the modern world. And there was lots of tale telling and story sharing, and as always, there’s a list of books for those of you who want to know more.

We hope you enjoy this episode as much we enjoyed the making of it. Morgan is a lovely person and a gracious guest and we hope she can come back again sometime.

Oh, and next week—next week, is a very special episode that segues perfectly from this one—

Kendra is back and she and I will tell the story about how the Good Folk crashed our graduation party and stole our beer. (Well, not quite, but kind of.)

THE BOOK LIST:

For a large list of Morgan’s books, click on the link above that says “author.” I would suggest pretty much all of her books are well worth reading; it just depends exactly on what you are interested in.

But in the meantime, I will suggest my two favorites at the top of our book list:

A New Dictionary of Fairies: A 21st Century Exploration of Celtic and Related Western European Fairies by Morgan Daimler

Fairies:: A Guide to the Celtic Fair Folk by Morgan Daimler

Similarly, any books by Katherine Briggs are worth reading for fairy lore, but I particularly suggest the following two:

An Encyclopedia of Fairies: Hobgoblins, Brownies, Bogies, & Other Supernatural Creatures by Katherine Briggs

The Vanishing People: Fairy Lore and Legends by Katherine Briggs

The Secret Commonwealth and the Fairy Belief Complex by Brian Walsh

Faery: A Guide to the Lore, Magic & World of the Good Folk by John T. Kruse

British Fairies by John T. Kruse

The Banshee: The Irish Death Messenger by Patricia Lysaght

The Good People: New Fairylore Essays by Peter Narvaez

The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries by W. Y. Evans-Wentz

A Trojan Feast: The Food and Drink Offerings of Aliens, Faeries, and Sasquatch by Joshua Cutchin

THIEVES IN THE NIGHT: A Brief History of Supernatural Child Abductions by Joshua Cutchin

Palgrave Publishing (This is the company with the amazing $10.00 book sale once a year.)
